Madd Branch Restroration Examples

There are many different ways to reduce sediment and improve water quality in any flowing bodies of water.  The following are examples of different techniques implemented at the Madd Branch site.

Here are examples of live staking and a boulder cross vane at Madd Branch. The ducks seem to like the new improvements.

Here the culvert was cut out to allow a smoother flow through the channel.  Also, live staking and a boulder cross vane are present.

The boulder plunge pool at Madd Branch is designed to dissipate the energy from the storm water outfall, draining approximately 25 acres.  In addition, it provides specialized aquatic habitat for organisms that have difficulty feeding or navigating in swifter reaches of the stream.

The Treatment Device at Madd Branch has an observation lid that allows the public to view pollutants prevented from entering the stream.
